Covergirl Just Announced Its First-Ever Male Brand Ambassador

CoverGirl is making history. The mega makeup brand has just announced its first-ever male brand ambassador, popular beauty vlogger James Charles. The honour was revealed Tuesday on Katy Perry’s Instagram.

“Just wrapped another great @CoverGirl shoot. Honored to have the pleasure to announce the very first COVERBOY, James Charles! Follow him @JCharlesBeauty!” she captioned a photo of the two of them.

The 17-year-old New York-based makeup artist has made a name for himself in the last year racking up over 426,000 followers on Instagram and more than 70,000 followers on YouTube.

“All of our CoverGirls are role models and boundary-breakers, fearlessly expressing themselves, standing up for what they believe and redefining what it means to be beautiful. James Charles is no exception. One year ago, he boldly chose to launch his Instagram to the world, using transformative, dynamic makeup looks to showcase the many facets of his personality, serving as an inspiration to anyone who might have been afraid to do the same,” the brand said in a press release.

While Charles’ partnership with the CoverGirl officially kicks off today, we’ll have to wait to see him in action. Charles, who only started playing around with makeup about a year ago, will appear in TV, print and digital campaigns for CoverGirl’s newest mascara, “So Lashy.”
