As a skin obsessed editor I’ve learned that the key to clear, healthy looking skin is moisture. But, truth be told I was stuck (like many guys) on an over-drying/moisturizing seesaw for years. The truth is hydration is the key to good skin. Dehydration causes breakouts, because when your skin is too dry it goes into overdrive and ends up producing more oil than necessary, which in turn triggers flare-ups. Dehydration is also to blame for dull looking skin and speeding up the aging process.

Of course, there are tons of gender-neutral and guy-branded grooming products out there that can add a little moisture to your daily routine. My all-time favourite product? Dermalogica’s Antioxidant Hydramist ($54.00). It’s a light mist-on toner that creates a hydrating, antioxidant shield over the skin. It instantly battles dryness, helps even out skin tone and helps prevent the signs of aging without any artificial fragrances or colours.

Use the peptide facial spray regularly to hydrate your skin before application of your moisturizer to maximize effectiveness. Personally, I use the hydramist twice a day: in the morning and night after cleansing my face and before moisturizing. It’s become my one consistent skin product must-have.
