Fragrance Of The Month: CLEAN Black Leather EDT

In 2002, the fresh scent of a bar of soap inspired Canadian, beauty entrepreneur Randi Shinder to create one, simple, clean-smelling fragrance. It rocked the perfume industry. The I-just-stepped-out-of-the-shower-feeling caught the attention of, well, everyone including WWD and Jessica Simpson, validating that the “green” eco-savvy fragrance company that could, did.

Fast-forward 15 years. While CLEAN Perfume still “promises to give you everything you need and nothing you don’t,” the once small-time label is now internationally acclaimed, boasting nearly 50 perfumes in its roster, including the sexy men’s eau, Black Leather.

Spicy and smoky, this musky eau de toilette is sophisticated and confident. Tart and powerful on first spritz, the juice opens with fresh bergamot and black peppercorn. Its signature, a rich blend of juniper, spearmint leaf, violet leaf and black orchid, give the fragrance its elegant, earthy quality, while warm musk, black leather and glowing amber add a sensual vibe.

Captured in a square black glass bottle with a tall cylinder topper, the eau can and should be spritzed alone. Yet, because it delivers on it’s brand’s simplicity claim, it can also be paired with other CLEAN scents, like White Vetiver, Reserve Velvet Flora and Shower Fresh For Men, to name a few, to create your own uniquely scented experience.

CLEAN Perfume, Black Leather EDT is $98 for 100 ml, available at Sephora stores across Canada.
