Whether you were born and raised Episcopalian, worship at the altar of Gibraltar or bow down to the environmental gods, there’s one thing we can all agree on, religiously speaking that is: the ritual of spritzing on fragrance every single day. And when that experience includes the house of Thierry Mugler’s latest and divinely crafted cologne of choice, well, its safe to say you may even feel compelled to supplement your actions with a hallelujah or better yet, a rousing chorus of “amen.”
Renowned for his hit, mythical and celestial fragrant lines like Alien and Angel, it’s only apropos the German designer’s A*Men collection of scented elixirs has expanded to include the limited edition, Pure Tonka.
Perhaps more fire and brimstone than sainthood and harps, this eau de toilette is an intensely sensual blend of fresh lavender and rosemary, warm Tonka bean and cappuccino and fiery patchouli and vanilla. The overall effect is carnal and torrid, exhilarating and mysterious, the ultimate temptation that is not unlike taking a forbidden walk through the Garden of Eden and hoping it ends in a snake bite. After all, the perfumer Jacques Huclier intended his juice to transport its wearers into total ecstasy and surrender.
Accessible to sinners and saviours alike, all with the simple press of a finger, this less-than holy water is contained in a shiny, black rubber-encased bottle complete with a pink and gold metallic star.
Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Tonka EDT comes in 100 ml for $99. It’s exclusively available at Hudson’s Bay stores across Canada.
