Fragrance Of The Month: Versace Eros EDP

This month? We try out Versace’s Eros Eau de Parfum…

We first discovered Versace Eros EDP in a gift sampler from Shoppers Drug Mart. The package contained four teeny tiny bottles of men’s fragrance, each containing a squirt or two of their own unique scent, combined with a gift certificate offering a complimentary full-size bottle of our favourite select from the four. We chose Eros.

Named after the Greek God (often said to be Cupid’s counterpart), Eros is all about immortal seduction. Warm and woody, the eau smells fresh and zesty on first spritz courtesy of notes of mint, candy apple, lemon and mandarin orange. A warm and earthy pool of fragrance soon washes over, replete with notes of sunny ambroxan, green geranium and herbal clary sage. Afterwards, a sultry blend of gooey vanilla, soft sandalwood and cedar, bitter orange, spicy patchouli and sensual leather notes completes the scent. The overall effect it is hypnotic, tantalizing, engaging and exotic.

Eros’ square, etched glass bottle is as equally magnetic in its azure blue hue and gold-topped cap. Marked with the Italian brand’s distinct Medusa head emblem, imagined by the late designer Gianni Versace himself, it is befitting. Because, like the Gorgon with the power to stop those in their tracks (and turn them into stone), it only takes one whiff of the this eau for its wearer and those around them to fall in love.

Versace Eros EDP, $179 for 100 ml, available at Shoppers Drug Mart.
