The continued rise of the electric car is undeniable. After the introduction of the hybrid engine, more and more vehicles are hitting the pavement, and are doing so on the power of an outlet plug. Tesla motors has been truly leading the way as of late, with their increasingly popular Model S, selling more and more units than ever before. Now, it appears as though luxury automotive brand, Jaguar, is entering the field.

Dubbed the ‘I-Pace‘, the battery-powered SUV is the first electric entry for the UK company. Unsurprisingly, it looks (and will likely operate) very similar to Tesla’s ‘Model X’ sports vehicle. Jaguar will unveil the concept in person, at LA’s Motor Show, occurring later this week. As for the specs, it’s said that the ‘I-Pace’ will have 310 miles on a single charge, while accelerating from 0-62mph in a mere four seconds. Needless to say, if that is the case, it will be incredibly fast.

While most of us might not be lucky enough to catch the official debut in LA this week, Jaguar is offering potential customers the ability to register online. There has yet to be an announcement regarding the price of the ‘I-Pace’, but we do know that it will go on sale in 2018. In the meantime, Jaguar’s Design Director, Ian Callum, says that he’s excited for the advancement of company technology. “The I-Pace Concept represents the next generation of electric vehicle design. It’s a dramatic, future-facing cab-forward design with a beautiful interior – the product of authentic Jaguar DNA, electric technology and contemporary craftsmanship”.
