Walt Disney World: Hollywood Studios

EXPLORING WALT DISNEY WORLD’S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS

Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios opened its doors on May 1, 1989. The fun-filled theme park is dedicated to all things show business, drawing inspiration from Hollywood’s glamour days in the 1930s and 1940s. [Editor’s note: The layout and attractions at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios are similar to Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim, California] Disney World’s Hollywood Studios is the perfect playground for adults with plenty of live shows and attractions based on movie and television favourites from classic Golden Age films to modern-day blockbusters.

Recommended attractions and experiences

Are you ready to have some fun… because many of the attractions throughout Disney World’s Hollywood Studios are tailor-made for adults. Seriously. A few of the must-experience rides and attractions within the giant theme park? Rock out with Aerosmith on the seriously high-speed Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster; experience the non-stop action on the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular; and feel the power of the Force on Star Tours – The Adventures Continue. When you’re ready for a serious thrill try the Twilight Zone-inspired Tower Of Terror, it’s a bone-jarring 13-story plunge that will have you laughing and screaming simultaneously. [Editor’s recommendation: Amp up the fun on the Tower Of Terror and save this experience for the evening] Your next stop should be the Hollywood Boulevard strip, which is filled with shops and restaurants. Keep walking, because at its far end is where you’ll find the Magic Kingdom’s centerpiece attraction, the Great Movie Ride.

Need a reason to stick around this Hollywood-inspired theme park until closing time? Hollywood Studios’ Fantasmic show provides the perfect excuse. The spectacular show at the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater features lasers, fire, and water fountains timed to a magical musical score.

Ready to eat

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is filled with a variety of counter service spots and full service restaurants. Snacks and grab and go food can easily be found, but when you’re ready for a fantastic sit down experience with your friends or significat other try one of these spots. The Hollywood Brown Derby is a much-loved spot to celebrate a special occasion with an incredible meal and a glass (or two) of wine. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater and the 50’s Prime Time Café are other fun-themed restaurants that you may want to consider when searching for a fab spot to sit and eat. Each of the restaurants offers great food, tasty cocktails and just enough of that sought-after “Hollywood” atmosphere.

Missing that feeling of being at the movies? Don’t worry there are plenty of kiosks throughout the theme park selling drinks, ice cream and popcorn.
