In 1941, Coach (then known as the Gail Manufacturing Company) opened an office and a factory on West 34th Street in New York City. The American leather goods company was a small business run by six leather artisans who focused on crafting beautiful leather wallets and billfolds. Then, in 1950 Miles and Lillian Cahn, a husband and wife duo, joined the team. Courtesy of their production and distribution savvy, gloves and women’s handbags were quickly added to the brand’s roster. The high-end leather accessories were a huge hit and soon anyone who was anyone had a Coach wallet in his back pocket and a handbag swinging off her arm.

Not much has changed. Except that now and with it’s roots still firmly planted in its original workroom, the coveted luxury fashion house has more than 1,000 stores around the world, racks filled with beautiful clothing and a line-up of men’s and women’s fragrances, including its latest scent, Coach For Men.

Woody and aromatic, this new eau de toilette embodies the brand’s luxurious sensibility. Tart, fresh citrus notes of green nashi fruit, bergamot and kumquart open the scent before being stirred into an elixir of botanical geranium with spicy cardamom and coriander. Sharp vetiver is then smoothed into sensual notes of suede and ambergris for a soft, yet remarkable finish. The juice is captured in a dark to light ombre of black glass complete with a gunmetal spray cap shaped like a turnlock, referencing the signature clasp on it ubiquitous handbags. The addition of a hangtag adds as a distinctive touch, as does a nod to the brands heritage with an embossed horse and carriage prominently displayed on the eau’s flacon.

Coach For Men is available for $72 for 60 ml and for $95 for 100 ml at Hudson’s Bay and Shoppers Drug Mart stores across Canada.
