10 Crazy Cars

These 10 cars defied all rules and pushed imagination and engineering to their limits.

Over the past several decades cars have gotten safer, more comfortable, more powerful and more efficient – but along the way there have also been a few deviants that defied all rules and pushed imagination and engineering to their limits. After all, what fun would these cars be if they weren’t a bit out of their minds?

1. Bentley Meteor

There are V12’s and V16’s, even ludicrous V8’s, but nothing beats a car powered by a monstrous Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 from a Spitfire fighter-plane. That’s right; 27-litres of raw power (660 horsepower and 1,600 lb.-ft. of torque to be exact) placed on a 1930 Rolls-Royce Phantom II chassis, and modeled to look like a 1930’s Bentley 4.5-Litre “Supercharged”, which was a legendary race car in its time. At 19-feet in length and with a sound that is out of this world, people will be sure to take notice. Shockingly enough, you can buy a Meteor – they are built by hand in Devon, U.K. However, all that novelty comes at a price of £500,000. Arguably, this Bentley is a motorized depiction of “pomp and circumstance.”
