5 Spring Trends From Gotstyle’s Melissa Austria

Spring is finally here! To help you figure out what you should be wearing this season, we've enlisted a little help from Melissa Austria, founder of Toronto's famed menswear boutique Gotstyle.

Wondering what all the stylish guys will be wearing this season? Well, Austria has picked five of spring 2013's strongest trends: colour, the new blue, plaid, the alternative bottom and the double breasted blazer, and offers up a little advice on how any guy (fashion-forward or more laid-back) can work them into his wardrobe.

The alternative bottom

You know you want to move beyond wearing jeans every single day (or at least having it as your only uniform when you go out at night). Think about the alternative pant. Wondering what that is? Anything that isn’t denim… for spring think coloured chinos (cotton pants), slim fit cargo pants in either solid colour or camouflage. And, the most comfortable style? The dropped crotch, it’s like wearing sweatpants that you can be seen in public with. Wear them super casual with tanks and tees or dress them up with a jersey blazer for a casual night out.
