Adidas’ extremely popular NMD series is the gift that keeps on giving for sneakerheads. After a bevy of subtle tweaks and fresh new colourways, the German athletic giant is gifting fans with a total redesign of the now-iconic knitted runner. Dubbed, the NMD Racer, the updated batch of kicks manage to remix the original model all the while maintaining its ultra comfortable, forward-thinking silhouette.
The forthcoming line of shoes, which is due to hit store shelves early next month, will debut in a futuristic colour pack that Adidas aptly calls, “Urban Racing”. Along with a crisp black variant, the Racer will be available in a pastel pink, cool grey, and a multicoloured concept that incorporates small understated speckles throughout the Primeknit weave.
Much like the previous entries in the NMD series, the Racer is outfitted with an unmistakeable Boost sole, a few plastic bumpers, and a breathable mesh middle to finish. Perhaps the most recognizable difference in this latest update is the fitted upper and the slip-on pull tabs. Both of those new features have already been well utilized by Adidas—see the Uncaged Ultra Boost and Tubular editions for reference.
Another hot addition to the Racer are the neon accents, which can easily be spotted on the black model. That particular sneaker playfully swaps out the NMD bumper for a colourful cluster of radiant orbs.
