Every Second Counts: Jose Bautista Collaborates With Hublot Watches

Men often look up to sports stars for their athletics abilities but in recent years they have also become trend setters. Take for example David Beckham, he has changed the way men dress and style their hair. He has become such a style icon that some people forget that he was once known for soccer. And in Canada, we have our own sports celeb who is known for fashion home runs as much as his stellar batting average with the Toronto Blue Jays – Jose Bautista.

Everyone’s favourite Blue Jay has done a few collaborations in the past with clothing brands. But for spring 2018, he has worked with world renown watch company Hublot on a watch. The Swiss luxury watchmaker, founded in 1980, has built a brand on fine craftsmanship and brand partnerships with some sports heavyweights. Over the years, they have worked with the best in soccer, car racing, and even cricket. So it should come as no surprise that they are now working with Joey Bats.

Now this wasn’t just about stamping the slugger’s number on an already existing watch. Rather, the six-time all star traveled all the way to Switzerland to put his design skills to work. The Classic Fusion Chronograph Special Edition “Jose Bautista” is a sleek, all black timepiece designed. The dial features Bautista’s jersey number “19,” at the noon marker. Moreover it comes with 21 black diamonds and polished, black-plated appliques. This watch is slick. The case is black ceramic on a black rubber alligator strap with grey stitching. Further, the right-hand chronograph function is designed to look like a baseball. And don’t worry, it even includes the star’s autograph on the back.

“I am proud to join Hublot’s family of greats, especially since I have always been such an admirer of their timepieces. I had the unique privilege to design a watch alongside one of my favorite watchemakers after visiting the Swiss watch Manufacture HQ, a timepiece I hope people will cherish for generations to come.” – Jose Bautista
