Wondering what you’re going to wear this fall? Probably not. It may still be summer, but, believe it or not, retailers’ shelves across the country are being flooded with fashionable fall wares. To help you get a jump on next season, we’ve scoured the runways of New York City, London, Milan and Paris to bring you eight essential fall/winter 2013 trends that you need to consider incorporating into your wardrobe.

Claret Shades

One of the key colours for men for the fall/winter 2013 season is claret. The dark wine tone was prominent throughout the European runways as multiple designers made wide use of the succulent shade to emphasize the richness of the season. Head-to-toe claret looks were abundant on the runway, but it takes a bold gent to pull that look off. The ideal way for the everyday guy to work the daring colour trend this fall is to pair it with other dark shades or another complementary colour.

Head-To-Toe Grey

Fall’s safest (and by far the easiest) trend to work into your wardrobe is wearing head-to-toe grey. Designers showing on all of the major fall/winter 2013 runways around the globe embraced this subtle style statement with open arms. Wondering how you can best pull this look off? Well, much like rocking a Canadian tuxedo, the real key to this runway trend is to mix up textures and shades of grey… pun intended.

The Baseball Jacket

Sportswear, with particular references to baseball, was a clear trend on almost every fall/winter 2013 runway earlier this year. Some designers presented sexy black leather baseball-inspired bombers while others offered fun, retro jackets with colour blocked sleeves. Subtle sporty or in-your-face, slipping on a baseball jacket this fall will definitely ensure a fashion home run.

Pyjama-Style Patterns

Looking for a more daring fall/winter 2013 trend? Look no further than the patterned pyjama-style print. These bold, colourful silky-style patterns that dominated the European runways earlier this year are meant to make a statement. Perhaps a fashionable option for a stylish winter bash? Of course, pulling the PJ-print trend off with success requires a gent with extreme confidence.
