Above: 5 of the most amazing sci-fi gadgets

Believe it or not…..

In today’s day and age it’s not hard to imagine the most seemingly impossible inventions coming to life. Frankenstein anyone? While these 5 gadgets are far from necessities, they are mind-blowing to say the least. Read on and try not to drop your jaw, I dare you.

Google Glass

Google glass is a wearable computer that is currently in development by Google X. It will be used to display data in a hands-free way with smartphone capabilities. The glasses can eventually be used by those wearing prescription glasses and Google is even considering partnering with Ray-Ban, the famous sunglass retailer. The glasses include a touchpad, camera and voice activation. Mind-boggling.

Need a washcloth? These tiny tablets transform, with a sprinkle of water, into full-sized washcloths. Priced at around $10 for a package of 8, these tablets are convenient, easily stored and are perfect for travelling or keeping in your purse or car. Not amazed yet? Read on.

Samsung Flexible Phone Screen

Samsung Display is showcasing a pair of bendable screens that could someday be used in smartphones. These flexible curving screens will also be used in TV designs. LG and Nokia have also come up with bendable prototypes. No more bending over backwards for those old rigid screens.

Self Stirring Mug

With the push of a button, these mugs stir your coffee or tea for you! Buy them online for around $20 and never stir your own beverages again. For those of you lazy bed heads…

Japanese Invisibility Cloak

A professor at the University of Tokyo, Dr. Susumu Tachi, has come up with the invisibility cloak we only thought possible in Harry Potter. While not actually invisible, the cloak is made using Retro-reflective Projection Technology that makes the wearer seem to disappear! The image that appears on the cloak is created by a viewfinder that puts together the images that are behind the person wearing it. This creation will have wider advantages such as covering blind spots in planes and cars. So no, don’t even think of using it to skim past security into Justin Bieber concerts.

So now that you know some of the truly amazing and innovative gadgets out there are you like me, staring down at your smart phone in utter disappointment? “Why can’t you bend or curve, you don’t stir my coffee, heck, if you were invisible I wouldn’t always get caught texting in class?!” Hey, don’t beat your smartphone up, it does its best.
