Everything Apple Announced At The iPhone 7 Event

If there’s one thing we’ve come to learn about tech giant Apple, it’s that they know how to throw an event. Today’s press conference was no exception, as the company unveiled their newest batch of services and software, most notably of course, the iPhone 7. The event was chock-full of information, and featured guest appearances by design officers at Instagram, Nike, and even Sia, because why not?

The whole shebang started off with an introduction by James Corden, who led Tim Cook and ageless wonder, Pharrell Williams, through a mini episode of Carpool Karaoke. The significance? Apple is apparently partnering with the series for exclusive segments, likely powered by Apple Music. This tidbit was dropped within the first few minutes of the show. If you were unable to stream the presser, and have yet to dare the Twitterverse, we’ve jotted down the highlights. If you’re a fan of Apple products, prepare to hold onto your butts.

Apple Watch

The second big announcement regards the next generation of the Apple Watch. The most impressive part of this segment, was learning that Apple Watch has become the number two watch brand in the world, behind Swiss titan, Rolex. Also important to note, is that Apple Watch tops the customer satisfaction list. As far as the new edition, of which they are calling “Series 2”, you can expect cool changes. Firstly, users can write freely using scribble in the new watches’ iMessage function. A new safety feature allows you to simply press and hold a button to call emergency services, while a message will be sent to your own emergency contact. Watch Series 2 has been “completely reengineered”. The watch is totally swim proof, and water resistant for up to 50 meters. The watch’s speaker shoots the water out of the device, keeping it completely wearable in the pool. They’ve embraced the swim feature so much so, that the watch will tailor to its users’ swim exercises. Series 2 of the watch features the brightest display of any apple device ever, which makes a difference when you’re out in the sun. Apple Watch also has a built-in GPS. Aesthetically, we have a nice new ceramic finish, which is also four times harder than stainless steel. Something that was emphasized during the presser, is Apple’s collaboration with Nike. The brands are partnering for an exclusive fitness-oriented release. Along with this, Nike and Apple will support a community running group using the phone’s new GPS system. Finally, Pokemon Go is also coming to Apple Watch. We’re sure developer Niantic hopes that this will combat its recent wave of unsubscribers.
