Name: Cameron Michelle Diaz

Birthdate: August 30th, 1972

Birthplace: San Diego, California

Claim to fame: She rose to prominence in the 90’s with her iconic roles in movies such as The Mask, My Best Friend’s Wedding, and There’s Something About Mary.

What we can see her in next: Her latest movie The Other Woman is a comedy that just hit theatres on April 25th, which she stars alongside Kate Upton and Leslie Mann. She also has a comedy coming out this summer with Jason Segel, titled Sex Tape, and she plays the role of Miss Hannigen in a new film adaption of the musical Annie, which comes out next Christmas.

Interesting fact: She auditioned for her role in The Mask as a joke, and after 12 callbacks she got the part. Before this, her only previous acting experience was in her high school drama class. Also, some people may not know that she’s part Cuban from her dad’s side of the family and part Cherokee from her mom’s side of the family.

Best quote: “People think I’m trying to make a fashion statement because I never wear a bra. It’s really that I’m a tomboy at heart”. – Talking about her tomboy ways.

Why we love her: Most of us will all remember the first time we saw Cameron Diaz on screen with extreme salivation – it was in her role as club singer Tina Carlyle in The Mask. Then there was her role as Mary in There’s Something About Mary that made us fall in love with her even more. She’s our Woman Crush Wednesday this week because she’s 41, but she looks better than ever.

Cameron Diaz started modeling at age 16 for various brands such as Levis and Calvin Klein. She then got her break into acting at age 21, when at the recommendation of an agent at her modeling agency, she auditioned for The Mask. She was clearly a natural performer as this was the first time she’d ever given acting a shot, with the exception of a high school drama class. Then came a string of notable roles throughout the 90’s such as There’s Something About Mary and My Best Friend’s Wedding that really put her into spotlight and made her famous.

Ever since then she’s had a lot of other high-profile roles in movies such as Being John Malkovich, Vanilla Sky, Gangs of New York, Any Given Sunday, The Holiday, The Charlie’s Angels movies, as well as voicing Princess Fiona in the Shrek series. She’s received three Golden Globe nominations throughout her career, and in 2013 she was named the highest paid actress over 40 in Hollywood.

Cameron Diaz is one of those actresses that seems like she’s been around as long as we’ve been watching movies. She’s managed to sustain a long career on the Hollywood A-list by showing off her timeless beauty, comedic timing, and fact that she can be one of the sole reasons a movie is worth going to see. She’s our crush this week because she’s one of those iconic beauties and actresses than just seems to get better with age.
