Earlier today, news broke that Comedy Central is cancelling Larry Wilmore’s Nightly Show after two seasons of programming. The former Daily Show correspondent had taken over the time-slot after network star, Stephen Colbert, left his desk to host the Late Show on CBS. Throughout his run, Wilmore struggled to garner the audience that his network so desired, ending with an average of 500,000 live viewers. Despite the inability to maintain an audience, what Wilmore managed to accomplish, was his development of a wholly new tone in a saturated world of political satire. The comedian harnessed a unique POV that when watched and heard, could change the perspective of the stingiest of viewers. This is what made the show a slight success, and what makes it’s worthwhile to remember today.
To properly send off Wilmore’s program, we bring you the five best moments from its two season run.
