Fragrance Of The Month: 18.21 Man Made Noble Oud Spirits Parfum

This month? We try out 18.21 Man Made Noble Oud Spirits Parfum

Feeling old school? Then niche designer 18.21 Man Made is your obvious choice when it comes to masculine, gentlemanly fragrances. The U.S.-based brand prides itself on creating meticulous premium scents, each one as uncommon in its composition as it is reverent to the Amendments that began and ended the Prohibition of alcoholic beverages in the early 1900s. Its latest addition to its male-oriented grooming product line up, Noble Oud Spirits Parfum is no exception.

Inspired by the roaring spirit of swanky, Prohibition-era speakeasies, this cologne is both decadent and sophisticated. On first spritz the eau wafts vibrant nuances of Calabrian bergamot, golden amber and ripe grapefruit before being swirled into a mix of bright lemon rind, spicy clove leaf and smoky oud. Its brilliance is rounded out with notes of warm rosewood, sultry vanilla flower and intimate musk for a sensual and intimate finish. The overall effect is one part daring, another part exotic and lastly, but certainly not least, a third part that’s wholly alpha male.

Crafted in a niche barrel house, the juice is captured in a vintage-style, cylinder-shaped glass flacon adorned with a detailed label reminiscent of old-school alcohol bottle markings. Topped with a twisted black cap with a leak-proof closure, the fragrance is easy to mist on 24/7. But with its formulation of 20 per cent oil blend, 80 per cent denatured alcohol and no water, you’ll only need to apply it once per day.

18.21 Man Made Noble Oud Spirits Parfum, $86 for 100 ml, available at online at 1821manmade.com and www.amazon.ca.
