Fragrance Of The Month: Mugler Les Exceptions Fantasquatic EDP

This month? We try out Mugler Les Exceptions Fantasquatic EDP…

We’re all about Mugler’s latest Les Exceptions gender-free, eau de parfum Fantasquatic.

Fresh and carefree, deep and mysterious, this aquatic eau opens with a wave of zesty citrus courtesy of lemon and grapefruit notes. Salty sea notes with spicy cardamom and herbal coriander ones soon plunge forward before being washed over with dry papyrus, sensual ambergris and warm patchouli. The overall effect is strikingly clean, yet with dark undertones of wood, spice and leather. And they’re captured in Les Exceptions’ signature, Art Deco-inspired bottle, showcasing the architectural elegance of the Maison Mugler.

An elegance, that was, of course, envisioned by the French fashion house’s eponymous designer Thierry Mugler.

Sadly, le monsieur passed away at the age of 73 years on January 24, 2022.

A talented and visionary designer, Mugler was renowned in the beauty industry for setting the perfume world on fire when, in 1992 he along with French noses Olivier Cresp and Yves de Chirin mix-mastered the sweetly delectable and first true gourmand parfum, Angel. Since then, Angel has become an iconic, cult scent, paving the way for Mugler’s many bottled creations. With so many worthy options to choose from, it’s notable now to recognize Mugler’s diversity and unique scent perspective through favourites such as, the elegantly masculine A*Men, the powerfully seductive Alien Man and the aromatic botanical Heal Your Mind Cologne.

So while the fragrance world may be a little less bright now, we are certain that Muglers eaus, complete with Les Exceptions Fantasquatic, will continue to keep his memory alive with every spritz.

Mugler Les Exceptions Fantasquatic, $220, available at the Hudson’s Bay.
