Take a look at some of the upcoming sneaker drops and you’ll quickly realize one thing: what’s old is new again. Not only is just about every brand on the planet dropping their own chunky “dad shoe”, but major companies like Adidas, Nike, and Reebok are hastily releasing updated versions of classic 90s models. Always one to lead the charge, rising trendsetters Puma are taking inspiration from vintage aesthetics and applying them to more modern silhouettes.
This clever method is ever obvious in Puma’s new upcoming RS-0 “Play” collection. Dropping at the end of next month, this fresh capsule takes cues from old ’80s video games, bright colours and clean aesthetics to form something totally clean and unique. “Play” shoes will come outfitted with leather uppers and cushioned inserts that reflect elements from vintage game consoles. And as far as palettes go, the shoe’s four colourways harken back to penny arcades and iconic titles like Pac-Man, Super Mario, and Tetris.
Puma’s RS-0 Play pack drops on June 21. You can take a closer look at the series below via SneakerNews.
