Over the past several decades cars have gotten safer, more comfortable, more powerful and more efficient - but along the way there have also been a few deviants that defied all rules and pushed imagination and engineering to their limits. 5. Lamborghini Countach LP400S
The Countach is an extreme supercar that fortunately did make into the public’s hands, after undergoing 18 years of production. It comes with scissor doors, a fire-breathing mid-mounted Italian V12, massive spoilers, a space-ship-like design and the widest rear wheels (345 mm) ever installed on a production car. The loud and outrageous Countach also helped to define the “supercar” design of that time, and showed us what a “cool” car should look like.
